The Country Club Church

It has been stated by many different sources that ” 85% of churches in America have plateaued or are in decline.” The great commission has become the great omission. Why? There are several reasons that come to mind. The most pressing one seems to be the Country Club Church model. This model comes from the idea that meeting together (on Sunday) and eating together is the end. The second one is the doctrine of separation (The world is sinful and we must separate from unbelievers) that has taken a great toll on the church. In fact it has given satan a great opportunity to keep the eyes of the world blinded.

Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them. They don’t understand the message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. Cor. 4:4 (NLT)

How can we turn these churches around? By refocusing our mission, Is meeting together important, Yes!

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near. Heb. 10:25 (NLT)

Is eating together important Yes!

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42 (NKJV)

But let us not leave out the most important part, the great commission,

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matt. 28:19-20 (NKJV)

The turn around will come when the church decides to refocus on going to all nations( people groups) and make disciples of them. This means infiltrating the world by building relationships with unbeliever’s with the purpose of sharing the good news to them so they can experience life change and the church can resurge in this generation.
